About the Kesho Fund
The Kesho Fund was founded in 2017 when Tanzanian teachers Oliver Kimathi and Petro Okoth met American teacher John Whalen, who was in Tanzania on a teaching fellowship. Oliver and Petro were highly engaged in enrichment activities for students in their city of Mwanza, but they had no source of funding. They worked with John and some other friends in both Tanzania and the US to found The Kesho Fund, an international NGO that raises support for projects in Mwanza related to gender equity, school infrastructure, and school supplies.
