✨Multipassionate Entreleader Series – 5 Steps to go from Clutter to Clarity✨

Last week, we started a new series that is primarily focused on being a multipassionate entrepreneur and how to not lose balance in the process.

You CAN be a successful MPE (multipassionate entrepreneur) and manage multiple brands and businesses, but you must have organization/management skills.

What is a multipassionate entrepreneur?

This was a term that was coined by Marie Forleo in the early 2000’s.

Brain Dumping 101

Dump all ideas out of your mind
Step 1 – Write them down – something changes within us when we write down our thoughts.
  • It doesn’t have to be in bullet points, if you want it to be, that’s fine.
  • Organization comes later, okay, first, it’s just getting everything out of my mind
Step 2 – after you dump everything out, step back and take a look at the organized clutter
  • What dominant themes do I see?
  • What can be grouped together?
  • What ideas are repetitious?
  • What ideas can be improved?
Step 3 – Begin the process of elimination
  • What can be eliminated?
  • What is not unique enough?
  • What will take more time than allotted?
  • Eliminate it or save for a later time AFTER YOU’VE MASTERED the current action plan you’re building.
  • Work with the ideas that will create a win now.
Step 4 – Identify/categorize various themes
  1. This can be grouped with this idea
  2. Here’s a cluster of ideas that form a theme
  3. What are major ideas or topics that stand on their own?
  4. What are minor ideas or topics that can classify as sub-topics under another theme?

Once you have your themes and clusters put together, you should see something that looks like a beautifully organized sequence that you created.  The importance of sequencing is that you create this step-by-step organized clarification process for the cluttered ideas that you already have.

Once there’s a bit of structure, now we can move on to step 5 which is organizing the clutter on a greater level.

Organizing the clutter

Step 5 – Now, we’re going through the second round of elimination and you can do as many rounds of elimination that you deem necessary.

  1. What should come first? What should I do first? Because the thing that I should do first is the thing that I need to do first.
  2. What can come after that? Start putting everything in order.
  3. You will notice that you have this beautiful sequence
  4. Take a look at the bigger idea and see which ideas can be consolidated into smaller groups that have similar themes
    1. Are there smaller ideas that can support the main idea or function of a more significant idea?
      1. Be honest with yourself.
      2. Not every idea will be significant.
      3. Some things you will just need to let go of for the time being.

This is how we are taking just a simple brainstorming session and turning it into a comprehensive strategic plan for implementation. Please remember that you must be honest with yourself – and this process also requires authenticity.

You can’t master what you can’t manage.
